legacy & tradition

Stafford King Wiese Architects was founded by Gordon Stafford in 1945.

The history of the firm is rooted in educational planning and design, and recognized as the “go to architect” by school districts throughout California. Much of this credit goes to John Stafford, AIA (2nd generation President), and Gordon King, FAIA, for their leadership and approach to educational planning. This historical foundation connects the firm with communities throughout the west coast because of the significance a school plays in developing “community” in neighborhoods. The architectural vernacular of a school represents an era yet functions effectively for generations. Under the leadership of the firm’s third President, Brian Wiese, AIA, Stafford King Wiese Architects’ expertise grew into diverse project types and today spans a breadth of public and private sector markets. Currently, under the leadership of Pat Derickson, AIA, NCARB, Stafford King Wiese Architects’ strength continues in diverse project types, innovative designs and a commitment to community and client relationships.
