County of Tuolumne Francisco Office Building

The Francisco Office Building, originally built in the early 1980s, is occupied by the County of Tuolumne's Public Works and Community Development Departments. The first two floors are parking, with the 3rd and 4th floors having over 23,500 square feet of office space.

Stafford King Wiese Architects' process to renovate the building started with a rigorous programming process with key department staff to identify priority objectives and strategies for the project. SKW's planning and design solutions concentrate on providing an efficient and effective work environment that supports the organizational needs of the Departments over the next 20 years. Key solutions include:

  • An increase in assignable square footage to meet the Departments' current requirements and the anticipated needs for projected future staff
  • The development of a flexible work environment to support a variety of activities, organizational growth and change
  • Reconfiguring lobby and public spaces to create increased efficiency for the County's constituents; providing a "one-stop shopping" experience for residents and businesses
  • Maximizing the presence of natural daylight in the office environment through the use of transparent and translucent interior wall systems
