CSI Student Competition hosted at Stafford King Wiese
On Saturday, February 11, 2012, five teams of students from Consumes River College participated in a one-day architecture competition held at the offices of Stafford King Wiese Architects (SKW). The competition was to design a bike sharing station on the corner of 12th and I street. The students began at 8am and had seven hours to develop a concept, draw a site plan, floor plans, perspectives and interior elevations. At 4pm each team made short oral presentation to a panel of judges and prizes were awarded to the top 3 projects.
Wesley Ramirez, Assoc. AIA, CDT, an Associate in the Healthcare Studio at SKW and a Cosumnes River College alum, has chaired this event for the CSI Sacramento Chapter for the last five years. SKW staff members, Rob Lowe, Amy Hofmann, Adrianna Servin and Shelly Scott volunteered as mentors and judges.
"For a majority of these students, this is the first time they have ever spoken in front of a crowd or even worked in groups," reports Wesley Ramirez.
