UCDMC Institute for Regenerative Cures
The Institute for Regenerative Cures incorporates state-of-the-art laboratory and technological trends for human and animal stem cell research. The laboratory will be housed in an existing building on the UC Davis Medical Center campus. A seismic retrofit and infrastructure upgrades were completed by Stafford King Wiese Architects to prepare the facility for new occupants and a new function. We master planned the entire 88,000 square foot building, and the spaces will be completed in multiple phases. The University received a funding grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to assist with the project's development.
The new research center will include:
- Good manufacturing practice (GMP) laboratories
- Biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) laboratories, which were designed as BSL-3 and classified as BSL-2
- Clean Rooms
- Flow Cytometry
- Microscopy
- Offices and Storage Spaces
Design work on the Center will be complete in 2009, with an anticipated construction completion in 2010.
