This project includes complete renovation of the existing Leroy F. Greene Middle School, and adapting it to function as a 7-12 grade campus. Scheduled to open in Fall of 2012 as the Leroy Greene Academy, the campus will feature two program offerings — Visual Arts & Technology and Business & Marketing. The curriculum is a progressive model that begins with introductory classes for grades 7 and 8, becoming more advanced through each school year and culminating with a senior class community project.
The Visual Arts & Technology program will focus on visual arts that integrates current technology into the curriculum. Classes will include introductory art, graphic design, web design, 3D animation and commercial art. Course offerings in the Business & Marketing program will ensure students are educated with a sound understanding of the principles of business, entrepreneurship, marketing and advertising, accounting, human resource management, and business ethics and leadership. The curriculum of both programs will prepare students for post-secondary education and career opportunities.
The project is being delivered under a lease-lease back arrangement. Construction is scheduled to be complete in the Summer of 2012.
