Morgan Creek Elementary School

This elementary school will be the most sustainable building/campus in the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District to date. Once complete SKW and the District will apply for LEED and CHPS Certification. The site has a small preserved grassland for drainage and two knolls sloping downward creating a ten-foot difference in elevation from one side of the site to the other. Due to the site constraints, we pursued a two-story classroom, orienting the building to maximize the sun angles and wind direction, and taking advantage of the site by developing paths and a dry creek bed. We also specified "green" materials and unique construction methods.
