This CASH/AIACC award winning project consists of a high school and a middle school on a shared 67 acre site. The district needed rapid approval and construction of the project. In order to meet their goal, plans of an existing high school previously designed by SKW and plans of an existing middle school designed by another architectural firm were re-used. SKW designed the Performing Arts Center as a bridging element between the two different architectural styles of these adjacent schools. The entire project achieved unity through a use of uniform brick, plaster and roof color throughout the site. The Performing Arts Center blends elements of both schools to help smooth the transition. The square brick columns with arched tree form capitals and tile bases link the high school and middle school together.
